Hey everyone, first post from Bryan, just a quick thought on gaming being addictive.
I've heard plenty of FOX reports, and other sensationalist news channels bang on about how games are addictive and how they'll be the death of us all (added that last bit in to top their already wild claims).
However, in the past few weeks I've come to realise they may be onto something. I've put off a lot of uni work to play games, and it's not as if it's just because I can't be bothered programming/essaying(?) for my university course. It's simply because from when I wake up, to when I should be sleeping, I always find myself wanting to game. Now I sit here at 03:49am finishing off Shogun 2, writing a few pages of an essay, which deadline is tomorrow, and feeling like shit because I never did it. Although, I know for a fact I'll stress all day over it, finally finish it short, hand it in, then go back to kicking some Uesugi arse.
It makes me wonder if it is actually addiction, because try not playing a game for a week, and I promise you'll tweak to shit. Or try to cut a gaming session short ("Just... One... More... Game...!). Then maybe, like me you might come to the conclusion that computer games are £40 boxes of heroin, and you can't help but inject their sweet graphics daily.
Think it's too late to take over the Tokugawa capital? I'm only 20 turns away...
Mate I hear ya!
ReplyDeleteGaming is addictive, why it is I don't know... but it takes a hell of a lot of self control to keep yourself away from it at times. Especially when you know you have work to do. I find best thing to do is to get the work done first and then you can game away.
Loving the youtube vids btw. I'll be back from uni in 2 weeks time, I'll add you lads on steam. I've got Shogun 2 ready to go, just can't play it on this shitty laptop!
Also, you guys play much l4d2?
Hey man,
ReplyDeleteYeah we play L4D2, i think thats one of the games that require most time in one sitting if your going for the expert campaign. Once me and Tizza played for 18 hours on L4D1 to do blood harvest.
Thanks for the comment brother, looking forward to gaming with you when you get back.
